Can Someone Recover Deleted or Hidden Photos?
Hidden and deleted are not the same thing, and it matters for what can come back. Here's exactly what's recoverable, what's gone, and when.
Hidden photos: always recoverable (that's the point)
Hidden photos aren't deleted at all — they're just moved to the Hidden album. So they're always "recoverable" in the sense that anyone who can open the album sees them, and you can unhide them anytime. Hiding is about being out of sight, not gone.
Deleted photos: the 30-day window
When you delete a photo, it goes to Recently Deleted, where it stays for 30 days and can be restored with a tap. After 30 days, or if you manually empty it, it's permanently removed. On iOS 16+, Recently Deleted is itself locked with Face ID.
